Accessibility

Last updated: October 5, 2026

DreamBerry NYC is a small studio in Queens, and this is a small website. We want it to work for everyone who wants to buy from us — including people who browse with a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, or need larger text and stronger contrast. This page says where we are, what we know still needs work, and how to reach a person if something gets in your way.

The standard we work to

We are working toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. That is the standard most commonly used to judge whether a website is usable by people with disabilities.

We are not claiming we meet every part of it. Accessibility is not something you finish — the site changes every time we add products, and so does the answer. What we can tell you is what we have actually checked, and what we know is still outstanding.

What we have done

  • Every product image has a text description, so a screen reader announces something meaningful instead of a filename or nothing at all.
  • Every page has a “Skip to main content” link, so you can jump past the menu instead of tabbing through it on every page.
  • Headings are in order on every page, so you can navigate by heading.
  • Text and buttons meet WCAG 2.1 AA contrast levels, in both light and dark mode.
  • Keyboard focus is visible on menus, buttons and links, so you can see where you are.
  • Page headings stay readable in Windows High Contrast mode.
  • Automated accessibility checks now run every time we change the site, so this does not quietly break again.

What is not done yet

As of the date above:

  • Some updates are not announced. When you add something to your cart or change a filter, the change is visible but a screen reader may not read it out.
  • Form errors are not always linked to their field. The message is shown, but a screen reader may not connect it to the box it belongs to.
  • Some image descriptions are generated from the product name rather than written by hand. They are accurate, but they do not describe what each photo shows.
  • Checkout uses PayPal. Their payment window is their software, not ours, and we cannot change how it behaves.

We are working through these. If one of them is blocking you, tell us — it moves up the list.

If something gets in your way

Email hello@dreamberrynyc.com and tell us what happened. It helps if you can say which page you were on and what you were trying to do, but tell us however is easiest and we will work it out.

We aim to reply within 5 business days.

If something here stops you completing an order, email us and we will help you finish it. Tell us what you would like, and we will find a way to get it to you. You should not have to fight the website to buy something from us.

Parts of the site we do not control

Some things here are provided by other companies — PayPal for payment, USPS for shipping and tracking. We chose them, but we do not control their software and cannot fix accessibility problems inside it. Tell us anyway if you hit one. We would rather know, and we may be able to help you another way.
